Taylor + Jerrad | Cozy, Igloo Engagement Shoot | New Buffalo, MI

Finding the person who can be your “safe space” is one of life’s greatest challenges. When things are fun and cheerful, anyone can get along and enjoy being around each other. It’s only when life turns a corner and becomes difficult that we suddenly realize who are the ones that truly care for us. In a twist of fate, Taylor and Jerrad’s engagement shoot fell on a day where the wind whipped through the vineyards of Southwest Michigan, bringing a chill that would normally cut a photo session short. But in spite of the cold, Taylor and Jerrad were able to find their own “safe place” thanks to the most adorable igloo, creating a cozy yet unique aesthetic for the evening.

We were already beaming before we even arrived at Round Barn Winery, as Taylor and Jerrad had previously shared with us that they really wanted to spend a little bit of time at their home with their son Boone before heading out. He was such a trooper on a day that was both windy and cold, allowing us to get their first professional family portraits together! Not only did the Round Barn Winery come to the rescue with the perfect answer to a cold April weekend, but the bespoke picnic design from Sincerely K&J also brought its own personal flair and turned a beautiful moment into a truly magical one. Taylor and Jerrad toasted to their love with wine sourced from local vineyards on the same property where they had their first date!

Taylor and Jerrad, the thought and intentionality you both put into your engagement session is inspiring to say the least. From thinking about Boone, to sharing your portraits in a place that meant the world to you, it was as if we were getting little peaks into your love story throughout the entire evening. You both were such a joy to be around, and the fact that we get to do it all over again on your wedding day is literally the icing on the cake!
