Weddings

The white pillars rose to the ceiling, supporting the full weight of the marble dome as it looked out over the water. The wind, in spite of its effort, could only harmlessly pass around the iconic building, as tourists flocked up the stairs to get an up close look at the Jefferson Memorial. Although this beautiful monument had seen over 80 years of history and millions of people enter through its hallways, this day in particular stood out, as a lone bride and groom slowly strolled through the towering columns that lined the outermost ring of the structure.

The threat of rain that once loomed in the forecast gave way to a simple, cloudy forecast, and as Kristi and Jake began to get ready to see each other for the first time, the excitement in the air was almost palpable. But it was more than just the excitement of seeing each other; it was the excitement of being together. As soon as they saw each other for the first time, they hardly left each other’s side. From their rooftop first look and their incredible bridal portraits at the Jefferson, to their ceremony and reception filling the Autoshop Loft, these two were truly the power couple of the day, and they have the photos to prove it!

Not only were Kristi and Jake able to have their wedding at one of the up and coming venues in Washington DC, but it had also been their dream since our first conversation to have their portraits taken at the Jefferson Memorial. Thankfully, after a fair bit of researching, filling out forms, and waiting patiently, the four of us were able to make their dream a reality. Not only were Kristi and Jake able to have their portraits at the Jefferson, but a combination of unique timing and careful planning enabled us to visit the beautiful monument with all of the beauty and almost none of the crowds.

Kristi and Jake, this past weekend was truly an honor to be a part of. From the numerous conversations we had with you at the beginning of the day as we traveled from location to location, to a bittersweet goodbye at the end of the evening, we can’t believe that this adventure we’ve been on with you is already coming to a close. But thankfully, your journey as husband and wife has just begun, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for you (or the fact that you are moving to Michigan)!
