Lizzie + Jake | Destination Wedding at the Watervale Inn | Arcadia, MI

As they rounded the corner, the familiar sight of the back of the Inn came into view. The bench where they had sat, worked, talked, and eventually fallen in love had been moved long ago, but the feelings still ran deep for Lizzie and Jake. The Watervale Inn was not only where they met and where they fell in love, but it was also the place that they would finally complete the story of their engagement and become Mr. and Mrs. Conger. Hoping to rejoin the festivities, they turned to walk back to the party, but not before looking back one last time at the place where their beautiful story began.

Years ago, Lizzie’s mother and father said their vows on the terrace of the Watervale Inn, and as Lizzie woke up at that same Inn on her wedding day, it was as though this beautiful story had finally come full circle. Watervale Inn was a familiar place for most of their friends and family, and the familiarity showed as the entire weekend was filled with events and gatherings which allowed all of Lizzie and Jake’s guests to enjoy all that Watervale could offer. The morning, although slightly gloomy, could not contain the joy felt from the two cabins where Lizzie and Jake prepared for the day. Lizzie’s gown, a unique design by Willowby Watters, seemed as though it was created solely for a wedding at Watervale, and her bridesmaids made the perfect escort as she made her way to the ceremony. As a special gift to Lizzie and Jake, the rain clouds miraculously parted mere minutes before the ceremony began, and try as they might to come back, never bothered the wedding for the rest of the day. Timeless Watervale traditions like the bride and groom ringing the dinner bell and everyone taking group photos in front of the Inn kept guests entertained throughout cocktail hour, and before they knew it, it was time from the Bluewater Kings Band to usher the crowd into the dance hall for an evening filled with live music and good times.

Lizzie and Jake, one of your friends said it best, “This weekend felt like it was straight out of a hallmark movie.” Knowing that we were all in the place where you two first fell in love gave this weekend such a beautiful sense of purpose and intention. Hearing stories and laughter flow from the Inn as you all visited with friends and family show the closeness you share with them, and how much both of you have impacted their lives. Now, instead of two separate people, you will have the opportunity to impact lives as one, and we can already tell you both are going to thrive in this new life you will build together.
