To dance with someone is to know them. As the music begins, two people come together to not only enjoy but also create. There is always give and take, and as each step leads to the next, the two dance partners learn how to better lead and follow each other. In many ways, marriage is just like dancing, as two people come together not only for an evening, but for an entire lifetime of enjoying, creating, giving, and taking. Jess and Brian first met on the dance floor, and after this experiencing their wedding, we are confident they are going to be dancing far into the future.
The sun rose over the buildings of Grand Rapids, its light softly filling both rooms where Jess and Brian began their morning preparations. Although a quiet, peaceful tone rested on both rooms, a spark of nervous excitement was beginning to grow in Jess and Brian’s minds. Separated from her groom by just a few floors, Jess donned her satin gown and pearl-laced veil and began her journey to the altar. The beauty of the stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings could not distract Brian for even a moment as his eyes stayed ever focused on the back of the cathedral, waiting for his bride to finally appear. As prayers and scriptures were shared and recited, it was now Jess’ turn to not be distracted, as her eyes seemed to be magically drawn to Brian, her soon-to-be husband. As soon as the mass ended, the church bells joyously rang as Jess and Brian burst forth into the crowd. In the midst of bubbles, cheers, and even a few tears, the evening celebrations could finally began which meant the thing that Jess and Brian looked forward to the most for their reception could finally take place: the dancing. It could not have been a more poetic ending to this season of life for Jess and Brian, as the same disc jockey who played music the first night they met opened the dance floor to a thunderous cheer from the crowd.
Jess and Brian, your story is truly out of a fairy tale. From meeting on the dance floor to living through so many joyful life moments, you have brought so many others along through this beautiful journey, including us! As your friends and family shared memories and words of wisdom during your reception, we clearly heard what we have already come to know: you are two of the most kind, genuine people this world has the offer; and now, the world will finally know you not as two, but as one. We hope the days, weeks, and years to come are full of laughter, full of life, and especially full of beautiful dance floors.
All our best!
